Cabo: trip details + travel tips

Cabo Trip-Jaclyn De Leon Style. Cabo trip details. Stayed at the Pueblo Bonito for 5 nights. Amazing all-inclusive restaurants and swimming pools + activites.

It's been a minute since we took a couples trip and when I saw that flights to Mexico were super affordable I had to jump on it!  We ended up booking at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Resort in Cabo San Lucas for 5 nights. This resort is an all-inclusive luxury resort that overlooks the Pacific Ocean.  The resort has six swimming pools!  For the adults there is a two-tiered infinity pool that is 250 feet above sea level and makes a great place to view the sunset! If your bringing kids they normally have a kids club with activities for all ages but it's currently closed. With a variety of restaurants and five star amenities we did not want to leave!

This was my first time flying out of the Tijuana airport so if you're thinking of flying out of there here's the scoop.  You park your car (on the US side) in designated parking areas priced around $20-$30 a day.  I recommend reserving your parking ahead of time so it's easy to check in and you get closer parking.  The best parking lots book up fast.  Then you follow the signs (there's people there to help as well) and you head through the CBX walkway.  This is where you scan your CBX crossing ticket which you need to purchase in advance.  A lot of airlines offer to purchase the pass with the tickets.  You need one for the way there and the way back and it's per person.  Once you go through the border crossing you can check in any bags at the airline or if you just have carry ons you continue on.  Then there is the customs area where they ask you a few questions about your trip and check your passport.  Once you are cleared through customs then you head to your designated gate and board the plane.  That's it!  Super easy!!.  Then when you land in Cabo or any other Mexico destination you get to directly pick up your bags and you're on your way.  You completely skip customs because you already did it before your flight!  Overall it was pretty easy and comparable to flying out of any other US airport.

We also went on an ATV tour with Cactus tours.{if you could link them as well} It was a 2 hour guided tour through the desert and beach.  So much fun we definitely want to come back and take the kids they would Iove it.  We also did a little shopping downtown and relaxed on the beach.  We met so many amazing people and it was so fun getting to know them.  Vacation friends are the best!

There are several resorts at Pueblo Bonito and since we got the all inclusive we were able to eat and hang out at all the resorts.  The sunset one is the biggest + has tons of great restaurants, several swimming pools and activities.  We loved hanging out at the pool during the day, hitting up different restaurants each night and then ending at Afters which is their lounge club.  They even have Karaoke there a couple nights a week.

We also loved hanging out at the Market place where there was tons of food options with an amazing bar right in the middle where they made the best drinks- especially the espresso martinis.  There's even tons of dessert places there so of course we had to try one of everything!

The only real downside to the resort is that although it's on the beach with amazing beach views you can't get in the water.  It's too rough and not suitable for getting in the water. But they do have 2 other hotels that you can take a free shuttle too that are also beach front but in an area where you can get in the water.  Shuttles do fill up fast so definitely recommend making reservations early!

We took the shuttle and checked out the Pueblo Bonito Rose {the pink hotel} as well as the Pueblo Bonito Blanca {the white with flamingos} which were right next door to each other and on the beach.  There's only one large pool at each and while I loved the vibe they were much smaller than the Sunset one we stayed at.  But on the positive side you can go swimming in the ocean there.

Cabo is such a great place to vacation and we were so glad we were able to squeeze in this trip.  In my opinion the best times of the year to visit Cabo is November-May and possibly early June.  Otherwise the Summer heat and humidity is a little too much.

We had such a good time we are already planning on coming back next May!  If you're planning a Cabo trip I hope this little recap helped you out and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out.

Check out where we stayed here.
